Bot Bench I'd Rather Be Building Robots
Ever wanted to make your NXT robot run along the bottom of a river? If you can wait until March 2011 you’ll be able to do just that!
Robotics Academy, the makers of ROBOTC, are developing a virtual environment where you can run your NXT robot without actually needing the set! Isn’t that cool? They have a multi-stage plan to release support for NXTG, ROBOTC and LabVIEW over the next few years. By May next year, students should be able to use ROBOTC to program their virtual robots.

Could you suggest the addition of the ability to read pre-compiled code? This would mean they wouldn’t be bothered with programming languages, especially if their software then includes support for uploading NXT firmware.
OMG, that is awesome! Can you “virtual upload” your firmware/files onto the robot? Is it an emulator of the NXT’s internal hardware/etc?
I dare say you can. I can’t really think of another way you would do it 🙂 I don’t really have more details than what was on that page. It only really needs an emulator for the ROBOTC VM, not the complete hardware.

I’ve been hoping they’d do something like this for a long time. only thing other addition that would be nice, would be the ability to import CAD models to it. but thats just wishful thinking 🙂
