LEGO World Day 1–Ready to rock!

Day 1 started a little late for me because I had to make a stop-over at Eric’s work to pick up a robot (as if we didn’t have enough of those yet) and his laptop for Monster Chess.  The place was a real ant-hill, all sold out and it looks like Thursday is the same.

I shot a video of me walking from the Mindstorms stand to the main entrance so you can get a feel of how big this place is.  I speeded it up 4x so you won’t fall asleep, but it took about 8 minutes at a brisk walking pace.

The KiNXT, my project I have been working on for the past few months worked OK.  There are still some issues to iron out but nothing major.  The biggest ones are delaying the calibration sequence until both players have been identified and being able to completely reset the tracking.  The large crowds that gather around when people play can mess up the Kinect.  However, this is nothing insurmountable.  Big thanks to Sikko and his friend for being my willing test subjects,  judging by the shouting and cheering, they didn’t seem to mind at all!

Without further ado, here is the video of day 1!
