LEGO World Day 4–Batter up!

CIMG0891Saturday, day 4, was a really awesome day.  Peter McKinnon and Claus Seitz from Rotacaster drove up from Duesseldorf to come see me.  It was great to finally meet each other after almost a year and half of mailing and Skyping during the development process of their robotic omniwheels.  They were blown away by the sheer size of the venue and event.  It really was one of the busiest days so far.  In the evening they invited Laurens, Martijn and me to a dinner.  We went to a very nice Genuine Italian™ restaurant (the same as for our MCP meeting last year, in fact) and had a wonderful meal and a great chat.

I didn’t take a video of the event itself today but rather of us goofing off after the crowds were gone.  I strapped my camera to my Rotacaster omniwheeled robot and had it run all over the place. The picture above is one of the actual robot but taken a while back in my light box at home.  Another fun thing to do when the crowds are gone is to play a little baseball with a really big LEGO bat made by Eric and some Duplo balls (the ones that came with the NXT 1.0 set).  The bat was surprisingly hard to swing as it was quite heavy.  Added to the fact that I’m not really great at hitting things except my head, it made for a fun time!
