We’we in fow a Tweet!

Dexter Industries have used their WiFi sensor to send a Tweet straight from the NXT over WiFi! It uses the Arduino Tweet Library relaying site to send them which is really, really cool!  I am so going to rebuild TwitterTattle to do this.  No more tethering needed! This is fantastic. The code for this will be available very shortly, it’s ...

LEGO World Day 5–All Things Must Pass

Today was the last day for me at LEGO World, as it was for a number of the exhibitors at the Mindstorms booth.  I procured some Rotacaster wheels for the Kassler University guys (thanks Peter) and they wasted no time cloning the omniwheeled robot this morning.  It was a real collaborative effort with 2 of us building it and one ...

LEGO World Day 4–Batter up!

Saturday, day 4, was a really awesome day.  Peter McKinnon and Claus Seitz from Rotacaster drove up from Duesseldorf to come see me.  It was great to finally meet each other after almost a year and half of mailing and Skyping during the development process of their robotic omniwheels.  They were blown away by the sheer size of the venue ...

LEGO World Day 2–Busy busy busy

LEGO World Day 2

Thursday was crazy busy at LEGO World. No movie today, however. Tammy (my wife) came over to see what all the hubbub was about and she took tonnes of pictures which she’ll edit and upload later. It was kind of cool to see how the people move through the venue in large waves. At 10:00 the masses start entering through ...

LEGO World Day 1–Ready to rock!

Day 1 started a little late for me because I had to make a stop-over at Eric’s work to pick up a robot (as if we didn’t have enough of those yet) and his laptop for Monster Chess.  The place was a real ant-hill, all sold out and it looks like Thursday is the same. I shot a video of ...

LEGO World Day 0–building the stand

I shot a small video of the LEGO Mindstorms stand being built and the weirdos that inhabit it.  I’ll try to make a video of each day. A small warning, this video contains some slightly NSFW language (one bad word).  I am pretty sure it won’t get you fired, though.  May also contain nuts.

Released: ROBOTC Driver Suite V2.3

Some boneheaded bugs fixed and a new driver Thanks to some very astute users of my suite, I have fixed a couple of stupid bugs in my IMU driver (this seems to be a recurring theme, it seems). A new sensor driver has also been added, this one was not written by me but Daniel Playfair Cal. Changelog More fixes ...

First Look: Mindsensors TouchPanel Sensor

The mailman brought me a package from Mindsensors today!  The TouchPanel sensor is here and it looks great.  I’ve taken some quick pictures so you can get an idea of what it looks like. Front view, the screen is slightly less bright when viewed straight on but doesn’t seem affected at all if viewed at a slight tilt. I take ...

Yo Dawg…

…So I built you this LEGO contraption so you don’t need to hold that mobile phone anymore. Can you believe that my wife actually sat there patiently while I built this thing next to her?  She was complaining about her arms getting sore from holding up her mobile phone so she could read her E-Book. LEGO to the rescue!  I ...
