One of my readers, Elias Barcia, mailed me back in May 2013 to ask for some input for a university project he was working on: make the three generations of MINDSTORMS, RCX, NXT and EV3 communicate with eachother. I gave him some feedback and pointers and some time passed. I had all but forgotten about it until he mailed me again last week with an update! Now, this is something I really love, when people let me know how their project has progressed (or not), with pictures, videos or just a story.
Anyway, I digress. Using ROBOTC on the NXT and the WiFiblock drivers from the ROBOTC Driver Suite, in combination with Lejos on the EV3, he has achieved wireless communication between the two over WiFi. He’s made a video of an NXT robot being remotely controlled with an EV3. How awesome is that? This apparently isn’t the final purpose of the project yet, just a proof of concept. Without further ado, here’s the video:
I am really looking forward to seeing how this will progress!
And here it is the second part,

Amazing!! dancing robots and much more…
and the third part is here.
Lego EV3, NXT AND RCX over Wifi

Now, the robots can “see”, thanks to the smartphone camera
Now , the EV3 can see and catch things
Also the NXT can see and catch things
even the RCX can see and catch things
And finally the 3 robots working together.
Remember , no wifi remote control, the 3 robots are autonomous.
